Two businesses achieve 5-Star food hygiene rating under one roof
Jacks and The Core, two well-known businesses operating in the same building on Victoria Road, have both been awarded the coveted 5-star food hygiene rating by Swindon Borough Council. The inspections, carried out by environmental health officers, confirmed their exemplary standards in food safety and cleanliness.
Maryna Petryk, a Core team member from Ukraine was really pleased. “We have loved working with the Jacks team since we moved alongside them in July, and to have been part of getting five stars is just great. It’s a nice feeling to provide our customers with even more confidence in our juices, smoothies and healthy food.”
For Jacks, the rating also applies to their new Friday and Saturday burger nights called 'House of Bun’. The successful burger nights are created by chef Josh West, formerly of the 'Pick Up Point’ on Devizes Road. In addition, Jacks recently welcomed new head chef Alessandro Gianati and the business came under new ownership in May 2024. Chefs' West and Gianati are set to bring their years of combined experience to all aspects of business. Chef West has already upgraded the Jacks’ Sunday Roast dinners, which have been sold out since the relaunch last month.
The Core moved from their original location on Devizes Road alongside Jacks in July this year. This highlights a growing trend in Old Town, where businesses collaborate to provide a diverse food and drink offering in one space. One other business to do this in Old Town is the Hop Kettle's Tap & Brew who have welcomed daytime operator Lightbulb Coffee, as well as a night time pizzas through Scratch Made Kitchen.
